This is especially true when, much to his chagrin, Dr. He also suffers many setbacks that, at one point, make him give up. The fictionalized hero becomes haunted by what happened and loses friends, including his girlfriend. LABYRINTH OF LIES is an absorbing, though fictionalized, account of all the work, and all the angst, that went into preparing the trials and getting the convictions of the leading war criminals at Auschwitz. It also led to the 1968 publication of an important historical work, ANATOMY OF THE SS STATE, the first survey of the SS based on actual SS records showing that organization’s participation in the murder of five to six million Jews in Europe and other war crimes.

LABYRINTH OF LIES is an excellent period drama about justice, but there is some foul language and a sex scene, though the references to the extermination of the Jewish prisoners in Auschwitz are mild.
